Fr. Zinno is a native Rhode Islander. From an early age, Fr. Zinno heard God’s call to the vocation of priesthood; he credits his mother and father, and Fr. Kevin Brassil (an assistant pastor at St. Augustine’s parish) as his inspiration.
He attended Catholic institutions for his education: St. Augustine’s School and Our Lady of Providence High School in Providence; Stonehill College in Massachusetts, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Philosophy; the Louvain in Belgium, earning a BA in Theology, MA in Theology, and MMRSc in Moral and Religious Science with a concentration in Liturgy.
Fr. Zinno began his pastoral work at St. Christopher’s Hospice Hospital, the first hospice service created. He then spent three months working in Tanzania with the Opus Spiritus Sancti. He was assigned as the deacon at St. Francis De Sales in North Kingston.
He received the sacrament of ordination on June 12, 1982. Since his ordination he has served as assistant pastor of St. Philip’s, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and as pastor of Holy Ghost and Our Lady of Mount Carmel (2002-present).
Fr. Zinno is a strong supporter of Catholic education and feels it is an essential part of a vibrant parish.
